SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA - 2010

 

 

GSHBA Scholarship of Excellence

This $1,000 scholarship is available to any eligible student or resident seeking education in the building industry living in GSHBA tri-county area of Portage, Waushara and Waupaca counties.  The “stipend” will be granted directly to the recipient’s school upon verification of enrollment.   (Funds from GSHBA Budget)

 

Jeff Nygaard Memorial Scholarship

GSHBA sponsors this $500 scholarship in memory of former member Jeff

Nygaard. This scholarship will be available to any student or resident in the

Portage County area that is seeking education in the health care profession or building industry.  This "stipend" will be granted directly to the recipient's school upon verification of enrollment. (See general application or specifics). (Funds from the Jeff Nygaard Memorial Golf Outing)

 

 Henry Knoll Memorial Scholarship Fund

This $500 scholarship is available to a student from the Stevens Point area.  The award recipient must be planning on entering or enrolled in a degree apprenticeship program or certified granting continuing education program in the field of building construction trades.  The “stipend” will be granted directly to the recipient’s school upon verification of enrollment.  (Funds from The Henry Knoll Memorial account)

 

Snowbelt Fireplace and Stove/Hyer Construction Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship is available to any student furthering the building industry or related fields in the Portage County area. All work related experience in the industry would be heavily considered when selecting this candidate. This "stipend" will be granted directly to the recipient's school upon verification of enrollment.  (See general application or specifics).

 

 

_____  The Blenker Companies Scholarship – “Building for Tomorrow”

Blenker Construction and Blenker Building Systems sponsor this $500 scholarship.  The scholarship is offered to eligible students from the Tomorrow River School District who are either entering into or continuing their education in the building industry.  The “stipend” will be granted directly to the recipient’s school upon verification of enrollment.  (See general application or specifics.)

 

 

UNITED FCS Scholarship

United FCS sponsor this $250 scholarship.  The scholarship is available to any high school senior, continuing technical school or college student involved in building related or business related trades living in Portage, or Waushara counties.  The “stipend” will be granted directly to the recipient’s school upon verification of enrollment.  (See general application or specifics.)

 

The Portage County Bank/Novotny Construction Scholarship

The Portage County Bank and Novotny Construction would like to help any student in the Portage County area wishing to continue their education by sponsoring this $500 scholarship.  This “stipend” will be granted directly to the recipient’s tech school or college upon verification of enrollment.  (See general application or specifics.)

NOTE:  Recipient of an award or scholarship must be a registered student at an accredited institution of high education by October 15 following graduation.

1.  Application is due in the Golden Sands Home Builders Association office by April 1st, 2010.

2.  Application must be completed in a legible manner to be given consideration

3.  No other application form will be accepted and none will be returned.

4.  A photo is requested, but not required.

5.  Statement (no more than 250 words)

Present your case for scholarship/financial consideration as completely and convincingly as possible.  Comments on why you need this scholarship.  Elaborate on your education and occupational goals.  Be specific as to your career aspirations.  Scholarship and award donors will read this “Statement” exactly as written, so take your time, check your spelling and grammar and do a good job.  Confine your information to the application.

6.  Attached with this application your most current, complete school transcript showing

     your classes taken, GPA and class rank.

7.  Attached also a maximum of 2 letters of recommendation of which not more than 1 is

from current a current or past teacher.  If letters of recommendation are coming in a separate letter, please inform us to this.  The deadline for the recommendations letter is also April 1st, 2010.

8.  The successful applicant must be a permanent resident of the central Wisconsin area.

9.  Preference will be given to family members of the GSHBA membership.

 

Successful applicants will be notified in May 2010, and will be invited, along with their parents, to attend the May meeting of the Golden Sands Home Builder’s Association on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 to accept their scholarship.
