Community Outreach

Scholarships - The Golden Sands Home Builders Association scholarship program encourages and supports students who with to pursue a career in construction or related fields. Eleven scholarships were awarded at the May 2008 General Membership meeting.
 

Free Booth Space - Every year free or reduced-price Home and Garden Show booths are made available to local not-for-profit organizations that are associated with the home building industry or provide important public information. This year’s recipients were the RECYCLING CONNECTIONS CORP.,  & PORTAGE COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS


Operation Bootstrap - We are proud to support Operation Bootstrap by collecting food donations at this year’s Home and Garden Show. Guests who donated a non-perishable food item during the Show received $1.00 off the regular ticket price. Operation Bootstrap provides individuals and families in need with food and other resources.


Arbor Day - On Arbor Day, April 25th, GSHBA members planted a white pine tree with Stevens Point Mayor, Andrew Halverson at Fire Station #2 in Stevens Point. GSHBA member Tom Girolamo/ECO-Building & Forestry donate the 8 foot white pine, while another 150 white pine seedlings were donated by the association and planted by local 3rd grade students from Madison Elementary School with help from our members.


Art-In-The-Park - The Golden Sands Home Builders Association is an integral part of this wonderful community event. Each year the Association has construction area at Art-In-The-Park were kids can create items from scrap lumber. GSHBA collects scrap lumber pieces, donated by our Builder Members. The weekend of the event GSHBA members donate their time to help kids with their projects. Held annually at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, the second weekend in October. This is a GSHBA sponsored event aimed directly at the youth of our community. This event is free for all children.
